The Couture Speed Tailoring course is held on Friday and Saturday over two consecutive weeks and provides the ideal opportunity to make a jacket of your choice.
Using the latest ‘high tech’ fusible interlinings and professional tailoring techniques you will be guided through various processes to complete the jacket.
The course is aimed at an intermediate skill level.
During the course you will make a toile (test garment) of your chosen style, to the stage of assembling the main seams, inserting a sleeve and attaching the under-collar. When the fit has been perfected, you will be taught how to assemble the garment using couture techniques.
You will learn how to:
- select and apply various weights of specialist interfacings
- cut and construct plastrons using the ‘floating shoulder’ method and horsehair tailoring canvas
- Cut and apply a collar stand, lapel wedges and bridles.
During garment instruction you will learn how to insert sleeves, ‘Armani style’ shaped sleeve heads, shoulder pads and optional mitred sleeve vents.
You will also learn professional techniques to assemble the under collar, collar, lapel and main body sections to create the perfect notched collar incorporating a tailor’s blister.
